Job Description:

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support Terminals and Operations Department of a publicly-traded distributor of petroleum and related products, responsible for day-to-day legal work for a network of owned or leased storage and distribution terminals
  • Negotiate and manage sophisticated merger and acquisition (or disposition) transactions and related activities
  • Work on regulatory and compliance matters with respect to all aspects of the purchase, storage, distribution and sale of petroleum and related products
  • Familiarity with logistics agreements and arrangements for all modes of transportation (trucking, pipeline, rail and marine)
  • Provide prompt, efficient and effective legal services and advice to other departments in connection with day-to-day business operations of a publicly-traded retail and wholesale petroleum distributor

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 12+ years legal experience focused on m&a, finance and general corporate transactions, with at least 6 years at a mid or large size law firm and at least 4 years at an in-house legal department
  • Public company experiencepreferred
  • Admission to MA Bar a plus
  • Ability to work effectively with business leads, in-house counsel, outside counsel and consultants

MINIMUM PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Commercial real estate and/or asset-based lending experiencepreferred
  • Experience with environmental compliance matters preferred
  • Experience managing internal clients and outside counsel on litigation matters a plus
  • Experience with union relations and management of HR matters a plus
