JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Summary and MissionThis job contributes to Starbucks success by managing and leading strategic projects and providing thought leadership and support in the annual strategic planning process, including: identifying key issues, developing the problem solving approach, managing multiple cross-functional teams to conduct analyses, and developing and communicating management level recommendations. Develops and manages strategy team members and contributes positively to team engagement. Models and acts in accordance with Starbucks guiding principles.Summary of Key ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
Leadership - Setting goals for the work group, developing organizational capability, and modeling how we work together:
- Identifies and communicates key responsibilities and practices to ensure the immediate team of direct reports promotes a successful attitude, confidence in leadership, and teamwork to achieve business results.
- Supports the implementation of company programs to ensure the success of the Company.
Planning and Execution - Developing strategic and operational plans for the work group, managing execution, and measuring results:
- Plans and manages business unit/department processes and practices to ensure that programs are aligned with company business goals and objectives.
- Prepares, communicates and educates client groups and team on changes in policies and practices within the organization.
Business Requirements - Providing functional expertise and executing functional responsibilities:
- Creates structured presentations illustrating key business issues, new insights and recommendations. Communicates team recommendations to executive leadership team and field questions and concerns. Communicates learnings and insights across cross-functional team, strategy team leadership and executive sponsors. Develops strong working relationships with sponsoring executives related to project work.
- Leads strategic project problem solving efforts by helping the team identify and define key issues, develop hypotheses and design required analyses. Provides problem solving leadership across entire project to cross-functional teams. Guides the team in thinking through complex and ambiguous issues, identifies creative information sources and approached and pushes the team to develop new insights. Oversees and reviews team analytics to ensure integrity and accuracy.
- Reviews and provides guidance to cross-functional sub-teams in developing robust and detailed workplans. Manages overall project work plans, defining approach, timing and key deliverables. Ensures that cross-functional team meets all project deliverables and timelines.
Partner Development & Team Building - Providing partners with coaching, feedback, and developmental opportunities and building effective teams:
- Challenges and inspires partners to achieve business results.
- Conducts and ensures the completion of performance reviews.
- Ensures partners adhere to legal and operational compliance requirements.
- Oversees training and development of partners directly and indirectly managed and makes effective staffing decisions.
- Provides coaching, direction and leadership support to team members in order to achieve partner, business and customer results.

- Detailed financial and statistical understanding
