Managing Director [Market Research] Overview:As a direct report to senior leadership, the successful candidate will be a key senior client facing individual with responsibility for building and executing a book of business in the classic “seller/doer” model. Clients will be life science firms [pharmaceutical and biotechnology]. Additional responsibilities will include mentor and motivational activities with other team members. Responsibilities:
Acts independently to create value for Clients using the firms capabilities and methodologies
Target new clients and perform business development activities both independently and in combination with the Chief Business Officer
Ability to connect what the organization does with a client’s business problems or situation and deliver solutions to clients
Be considered a “go to” resource for clients with eye toward expanding revenue and margins
Be able to direct or manage a team of project managers to assure successful execution of all projects and that deliverables are on target.
Able to effectively communicate and interface with clients at both junior and senior levels
Proactively make recommendations for additional projects or follow up work
Able to conduct and perform all aspects of qualitative research as part of engagements
Conversant with all aspects of quantitative research including advanced analytic techniques (though not expected to design studies)
POSITION REQUIREMENTS & experience:
8+ years of progressive experience in either: Pharmaceutical company (Director level)
Product Management; Commercial Development; Business Development and/or licensing; Marketing Research; Consulting Firm w. Pharmaceuticals experience; Marketing Research firm w. Pharmaceuticals experience (VP)
Have a network of client side contacts and proven (unless corporate) track record of generating revenue from clients Capable of working on multiple projects simultaneously Qualitative Doer abilities:
Focus group moderation; Questionnaire design; Final report generation and presentation; Ability to sell and orchestrate quantitative studies; Demonstrated track record of successful achievement and growth both professionally and financially as demonstrated by: Industry recognition of capability (conference speaker, published articles, etc) Team player both within the organization and the clients; Self motivated with Integrity and solid work ethic; Able to travel as needed
