Principal Editor/Features is a senior editorial position on a website for audiences in Central Asia, Afghanistan and Pakistan.

The features manager is responsible for scheduling, managing features flow, and responding to writer proposals. He or she serves as the main backup to the Managing Editor/Task Leader and can "shadow" essential content management tasks.

The features manager acts as a senior editor, setting and enforcing policies such as the style guide, formatting rules, and required article elements.

In addition, he or she is in charge of the photo stringer team, handles photo procurement, and assists the Program Support Specialist with invoicing.

This person should be an experienced editor with background in target area studies or other relevant fields; knowledge of regional languages is preferred.

Requires BS/BA degree in English, Journalism, political sciences or international affairs, strategic and security studies. Masters degree in the above fields or the equivalent of experience is preferred.

Requires 8-10 years experience in news editing and production, journalism, communications, public diplomacy or international affairs.

Background or knowledge of Central and South Asia is necessary. Proficiency in Russian, Urdu, or Dari is highly preferred.
