JOB DESCRIPTION

The Business Development Manager identifies, evaluates and manages new business development opportunities and marketing initiatives to create demand. This position reports to the Director of Marketing and will be responsible for developing relationships throughout the value chain to champion pressure sensitive (PS) adoption in the Food industry. The Business Development Manager is normally an Individual Contributor, though this position may manage a small staff in support of an assigned area.

• Manage, in conjunction with company wide resources, the pursuit process through lead generations, opportunity qualification, solution development and facilitation of client meetings, and follow-up assistance.


 


• Be the driving force behind the development of new business in the packaging marketplace by driving PS adoption.


 


• Assist clients in determining packaging design and type of product they may require. Understand and implement our suite of client focused value added tools. Assist client in determining the right solution.


 


• For opportunity analysis and the development and execution of business development and new venture development plans. Identify and evaluate entirely new business prospects for consideration that fit within the vision and capabilities of the business. Identify and evaluate new opportunities building off of existing technologies to new or existing customers. Responsible


 


• Work with Marketing to formulate strategy and select key target markets. Identify prospective customers. Identify unmet customer needs. Work to identify products and processes needed to meet those needs.


 


• Lead and manage priority growth projects. Lead teaming efforts (and project manage activities) that include R&D, manufacturing, quality and application development resources.


 


• Target markets opportunities. Participate in trade associations and technical conferences related to


 


• Incorporate knowledge of the industry to partner with Marketing to develop products, support materials and pricing recommendations. Partner with Sales to transition business development account activities during commercialization. Monitor and report on industry trends.


 


• For customer needs. Navigate complex problems and structures to determine the best solutions


 


 


 


Minimum 6-10 years business relevant business development/brand marketing/sales experience in CPG Food, Beverage or Home/Personal Care packaging industries.


 


 


 


• A rounded understanding of the Food/packaging industry, including competing products and materials; product knowledge and understanding of the physical properties of different types of printing and labeling materials; and an understanding of substrate and converting aspects – flexo, gravure and off-set printing and finishing processes. Packaging engineer preferred


 


• Proven record of developing and maintaining profitable business in a competitive market.


 


• Self-motivated with high level of energy, ability to work with limited supervision and demonstrate business maturity in areas of decision-making and conflict resolution.


 


 


 


• Possess highly effective communications skills: written, oral and presentation.


 


 


 


• Proficiency in MS Office computer skills required with exposure to salesforce.com or similar sales tool.


 


 


 


• Possess positive individual leadership qualities and assertiveness in influencing others. Demonstrated ability to work independently.


 


 


 


**This position will require 50 -60% domestic travel
