JOB DESCRIPTION
The Director of Product Marketing is a senior level position in the Product Management team reporting the VP of Product Management. The role spans the entire product lifecycle and requires strategic thinking, solid business acumen, and a passion for driving tactical execution across functions. The position is primarily tasked with developing and overseeing highly effective go-to-market strategies designed to significantly grow sales of enterprise analytics products and services. In this capacity, you will work closely with the corporate marketing teams and the global sales teams to ensure success. Beyond driving product line strategies, the primary areas of focus include messaging, positioning, sales enablement, promotion and demand generation, and overall product performance against key metrics.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess market opportunities, competitive positioning and product portfolio to drive an understanding of customer and partner benefits.
- Drive market segmentation strategy, targeting and message platforms consistently across diverse markets. Affect sales understanding and comprehension with systematic communications and training.
- Define sales opportunities and market entry strategies based upon market place dynamics, product benefits, and competitive positioning. Create supporting sales materials and references.
- Create and implement marketing plans that include new product introductions, lifecycle management and promotional strategies for reaching target buyers.
- Assume overall leadership and responsibility for the successful launch and adoption of products and solutions, and assessment of market acceptance.
- Create a strong relationship with sales and marketing to develop comprehensive product launch programs and communication strategies.
- Work with marketing communications to create effective and comprehensive sales and customer communications strategy, product collateral (e.g., data sheets, whitepapers, demos, etc.) and appropriate web content that best represents the voice of the customer.
- Maintain product marketing goals, strategy, and promotional calendar.
- Define goals and success metrics for the product marketing function; oversee analysis and evaluation of all programs.
- Meet performance targets and budgeted goals.
Interaction:
- This position is an internal and external facing position. Ability to interact with and influence product marketing, engineering, sales and services as well as customers and partners is required. Ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams required.
Experience & Education
- A minimum of 10 years in of highly relevant product marketing experience in the software industry; analytics experience strongly preferred
- Experience with worldwide operations in a global company
- Significant experience with one or more vertical industry markets, including Financial Services, or Retail.
- Understanding of direct and indirect market channels
- Proven business and market planning skills
- BA/BS -MBA preferred
