JOB DESCRIPTION

Director of Sales & Marketing


This position is responsible for directing the full scope of activities of the sales and marketing function of the company in obtaining orders, sales, margins, marketing, and expense objectives for all assigned markets and products, and the effective utilization of all manpower and materials to ensure satisfaction of those objectives, in accordance with the overall policies and objectives of the Company.


 


Essential functions include, but are not limited to:



  • Direct and manage the overall Sales and Marketing activities for the Corporation

  • Inspire the Company to always put the Customer’s needs first in order to retain and develop a continuous growth of new customers

  • Motivate the Sales staff to perform at its highest level possible

  • Prepare the Company for changing markets and promote development of  new markets for the Company’s products

  • Direct the Engineering R&D efforts to meet market demand for both the Company’s current products and new products

  • Develop annual Business Plans detailing the Sales objectives and goals of the Company for the forward years consistent with Corporate Directives

  • Establish Dollar value of New Order Booking goals by Market and for each plants product scope

  • Prepare monthly reports to the President summarizing the Company’s Sales performance for that month, year-to-date statistics, competitive information, and marketing initiatives

  • Oversee and direct the Manufacturers Rep organizations to accomplish the business goals of Virginia Transformer Corp

  • Staff the Sales and Marketing organization to meet the Company’s growth goals, monitor turnover, and retain personnel

  • Develop training programs to effectively utilize personnel in their most efficient manner and to prepare new employees to be productive and enthusiastic

  • Develop compensation, incentive, and bonus plans to retain and motivate Sales personnel

  • Oversee the training and development of sales personnel for career opportunities at Virginia Transformer Corp

  • Prepare Company presentations to enhance the image of the Company in the transformer marketplace

  • Select and exhibit at various trade shows to promote the Company’s products and capabilities

  • Interface with each of the functional areas of the Company to coordinate customer requirements regarding quality, on-time deliveries, and overall customer satisfaction

  • Monitor competitor’s actions in the market and establish a data base of market intelligence: including prices, deliveries, product scope, etc.

  • Travel and visit as many of the Company’s customers as possible to establish long-term relationships

  • Protect the Company from financial loss and minimize the risk element when accepting orders on behalf of the Company

  • Insure that the Company’s policies and procedures are followed by all Sales personnel


 Accountability:  Reports to President.


 Worker Specifications:


 Required:


 1.     Minimum Bachelor’s Degree.


 2.     Ten to fifteen (10-15) years sales experience in Large Capital Goods Industry (preferably power industry related). 


Preferred:


 1.     Master’s degree.


 2.     Sales leadership experience in transformer/related industry.


 3.     College-level instruction in sales/marketing disciplines or business management.
