Job Dimensions:


 


Initiate and bring to financial close wind power development projects in the US. This will include development efforts starting with prospecting, project identification, appraisal, and subsequent development up to commencement of construction. 


 


Accountabilities:


 



  • Accountable for driving significant business growth in the assigned portions of the US for BP Wind Energy. Responsible for the origination and development of wind projects in selected region(s).

  • Specific project development duties include management and coordination of:

    • Market analyses

    • Site identification and assessment

    • Land easement, lease, and right-of-way negotiations

    • Wind resource assessment

    • Project conceptual design

    • Environmental studies and local, state, and/or federal permitting

    • Interconnection studies and agreement negotiations

    • Public relations

    • Marketing, origination and power sales agreement negotiations

    • Financial pro-forma analyses

    • Negotiation of partnership agreements and support of project financing activities.



  • Provide oversight and direction to multi-disciplinary teams of engineering, environmental, wind resource, land, regulatory, legal and finance professionals

  • Provide assurance and reporting to Management on specific transactions and project economic assumptions and the articulation of key project value, risks and drivers.

  • Ensure that appropriate internal BP governance and approval processes are being followed for all wind transactions.

  • Manage the relationships at appropriate levels between BP Wind Energy and key partners, suppliers, government bodies and contractors to ensure the efficient and profitable execution of wind projects.

Professional Qualifications Required:


 



  • 10-20 years of experience developing energy projects

  • Demonstrated leadership in developing greenfield power generation projects

  • Wind project development experience is a plus

  • Experience negotiating a variety of project agreements

  • Track record of successful project closings

  • Strong time management skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Understanding of the financial and technical issues associated with power development projects and experience with the full range of development elements including site acquisition, PPA’s, environmental issues, permitting, design, modeling, financing, etc.


 


Education:


 



  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • MBA or other graduate degree a plus
