Managing Editor

The Managing Editor will be responsible for leading and growing our content team.  This position is located in Florida.

Specific Responsibilities:

• Manage a team of up to 4 to 8 people, including in-house writers (subject matter experts) and possibly editorial staff (editorial assistants and project editors).  Initially will want a very hands-on approach. 


• Manage projects and be involved with the everyday aspects of content development and production


• Ensure that projects are delivered on schedule and reflect our editorial standards


• Outsource and manage work from vendors and freelancers


• Traffic the product from outline and initial manuscript through publication


• Work directly with authors, reviewers, and production staff


• Ensure quality at every stage
  
  
  

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in English or related field (Master’s a plus)


• 3 to 5 years experience as an editor, preferably in an online or educational environment


• 1 to 3 years experience managing people


• Superb project management skills with the ability to maintain high productivity


• Excellent writing, editing, verbal/written communication skills


• Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, and be very comfortable with new media and technology in general


• Must be flexible and able to adapt to a fast-paced, rapidly changing work environment
