JOB DESCRIPTION
The Application Platform business is a critical growth driver for Microsoft, and senior leadership is looking to significantly increase our revenue over the near term through creating and executing breakthrough business approaches for our industry and mission critical or “Tier-1” marketing. This role has direct impact on how our customers perceive Microsoft’s enterprise readiness, how we enable our sellers to engage on mission-critical workload deals; and ultimately how we compete for share in business areas worth billions of dollars of upside. We are looking for a driven and experienced marketing professional to build out or strategies and plans with the industry and customer marketing teams across the company, to take advantage of this huge opportunity. Specifically this role will be chartered with driving:

• Microsoft’s strategy and vision for the application platform business across the key industry and vertical teams. This includes building the business plans to drive growth and focus on key opportunities with General Managers in the industry/sector teams, tracking the implementation of these plans, and evaluating investments the business should make to get the required return on investment.
• Be the central business strategy leader for our industry approach within the application platform team - deeply understanding the business drivers, evangelizing the industry team strategies within the application platform BG to gain broad support, and functioning as the key liaison for the industry teams across the planning, execution and reporting rhythms of the company (WWSMM, PRISM, MYR).
• Deliver insight into the marketing priorities of the industry teams, lead the effort around value proposition and competitive differentiation for key industry/Solution Areas, and partner with our campaign team to drive this intelligence and strategy into the marketing bill-of-materials.
• Lead the tier-1 marketing push for the division - deliver the all up strategy, correct value proposition, competitive marketing insights and shift the bar on mission-critical perception, and sales traction in key workloads for a $3B+ revenue business.
• Define the spec for tier-1 customer evidence and proof, working with the customer evidence team and analyst and benchmarking teams to drive the right proof - and then market that proof through our tier-1 marketing plan.

This position is a highly visible one that involves both developing key business and marketing strategies with teams and senior leaders, and driving marketing execution across complex programs. It requires extensive cross-group coordination at all levels, superior communication skills, and a relentless drive for results - keeping our critical business, customer and competitive goals in sight at all times.
Senior candidates with a minimum of 10 years of relevant enterprise software marketing, sales or services experience are preferred. Experience in marketing/selling high-end systems in and industry context is a definite plus.
