Do you have experience providing deep insights on market opportunities and customer needs in the hyper-competitive landscape of digital media and games?
Overview:
This position is responsible for driving and coordinating the overall business strategy for digital media, entertainment and games in Windows. Primary responsibilities include, but not limited to drive the launch and marketing digital media and gaming offerings in Windows 7, to drive strategy and business decisions associated with ongoing improvements to the Windows 7 media and gaming experience, and to represent the voice of the business with Windows product planning.
This position requires effective collaboration with product marketing, PR, product planning, engineering, business development and finance. This position also requires extensive cross-group coordination, strong business leadership; and the ability to deliver comprehensive business reviews to senior leaders.
To be successful in this role, you should possess subject matter expertise for the digital media and gaming industry as well as Windows entertainment features and technology. Candidates should have a demonstrated ability to think creatively, to effectively communicate recommendations at all levels of the company, and be able to drive process and structure in a dynamic environment.
Key responsibilities:
- Definitive marketing subject matter expertise in Internet Television, Windows Codec support, advanced multi-media and power gaming scenarios, and technologies within Windows which enhance the overall gaming experience.
- Develop “best in class” key product management deliverables including value proposition, positioning docs, feature naming, whitepapers, competitive and market intelligence reports, and other materials.
- Work with customers, partners, Microsoft stakeholders and researchers to identify and quantify trends and emerging opportunities within the digital entertainment market and develop and evangelize recommendations to capitalize on potential opportunities.
- Influence partner recommendations, and support the business development team with consensus building and negotiation leverage.
- Track business development around premium content offerings on an ongoing basis, and work cross group to drive solutions to improve business performance.
- Evangelize Windows and the digital entertainment features and experiences both internally and externally including attending analyst briefings, press tours/engagements, trade shows and other marketing events.
- Support the product planning efforts for the development and ongoing evolution of the Windows entertainment business strategy.
Requirements:
- Strategic thinking and analytical skills, excellent written and verbal communication, and the ability to achieve objectives and deliver results on multiple projects
- A strong passion and affinity for digital entertainment and experience in the entertainment and consumer electronics
- Demonstrated excellence in product management and consumer marketing is required
- A minimum of 8 years experience in product management, marketing, or product planning
- BS/BA required, MBA preferred
