The Vice President of Strategy and Innovation partners with the division’s senior leadership team to identify and help develop and implement growth initiatives, improve customer experience and create value in the arena of operations management across SBS. The resulting initiatives drive profitable growth via market expansion, increased business efficiencies and an enhanced competitive position.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
• Lead creation of the business’ 5-year roadmap for growth; own creation and delivery of division’s annual strategic plan.
• Generate market data, consumer research, customer insights, sales data and competitive intelligence to identify needs in the market that support the expansion and customization of existing products, the introduction of new products and the implementation of customer segmentation initiatives that drive sales and create new revenue streams.
• Produce in-depth market assessment, sales information and customer retention data to define gaps in business strategy. Develop recommendations for action based on sound analysis, and work with functional leaders on the subsequent development and roll-out of action plans.
• Perform or direct feasibility studies to determine potential entry strategy into expansion markets
• Work cross-functionally to expand and nurture a culture of growth and innovation across SBS.
• Prepare reports and offer interpretation of competitive activity for sales, marketing, operations and executive management. Ensure that market and competitive information remains current and that all constituencies are kept up-to-date.
• Partner with the product management and finance teams on pricing management and customer profitability. Assess pricing and product mix vs. competitors and develop recommendations on updated pricing or business models as appropriate.
• Support special projects and marketing initiatives designed to increase sales and enhance client retention. Assist marketing team and other groups with analysis on various strategic initiatives and projects as needed. Partner with our corporate research team on joint projects.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. 8+ years of successful strategic planning, business intelligence and research/analysis experience, with direct involvement in the creation of complex growth and operations plans, business development and market intelligence gathering and reporting.
2. Proven work history of being able to make decisions from concepts, translate incoming data into action plans, measure results and quickly adapt to a rapidly changing marketplace while working independently or with a limited staff.
3. Successful track record of developing and executing significant growth initiatives involving expansion into new markets, product arenas and sales/distribution channels.
4. Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and help a team accomplish key deliverables in an environment of multiple – sometimes conflicting – priorities. Ability to navigate and excel in a demanding and matrixed environment.
5. Demonstrated experience initiating and building relationships cross-functionally and with executive teams; ability to act as a thought partner with supervisor and foster collaboration with others
6. Highly analytical, action-oriented approach with excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to develop exceptional business communications.
7. Bachelors Degree required. MBA Preferred.
