Proposal Manager

Company:        We have been retained by a rapidly growing, venture-backed, international energy technology company that seeks a hands-on Proposal Manager to join its senior management team.  Headquartered in suburban Washington DC, the company is positioned to become the premier global provider of reliable, internet-based wireless device networking technology. The company is backed by leading venture capital funds with strong leadership positions within the growing ‘Cleantech’ space. The company is in the beginning of its growth cycle and has aggressive growth objectives intended to gain market share within this high growth $2B+ industry. The senior management team is highly experienced while the company culture is goal-oriented, fast paced, and characteristic of an early stage, entrepreneurial technology-oriented organization.

Position:          This position reports to the VP Sales.  The company seeks an experienced, detail-oriented marketing/proposal professional who is motivated and dedicated to quality in creating winning RFP and RFI proposals. This person will be responsible for the production, coordination and timely submittal of proposals in addition to maintaining a broad technical understanding of products offered by the company and its competitors.  This person is expected to contribute to ongoing process improvement activities to streamline the development of accurate, winning responses, conduct research on competitor’s RFP responses, press releases, and news articles to compare and contrast with the company’s offerings and capabilities as well as analyze feedback from clients regarding an RFP to further the sales and management teams’ understanding of client/industry expectations. Candidates with consulting environment experience are highly desired.

Requirements:

• B.S. or B.A. in related field and 4 to 8 years of content/marketing writing experience


• Qualified applicants will possess 8+ years of proposal development/response


• Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple projects


• Demonstrated ability to bring together content from various sources (both technical and functional) into a clearly coherent and professional looking document


• Ability to motivate the team to maintain a strong sense of urgency and consistently produce high quality work in absolutely essential


• Previous work within a small business/entrepreneurial environment is preferred


• Electric utility experience is a plus

Compensation:  Our client is willing to customize a compensation package that will include a base salary, cash bonus, and long-term equity component that will reward short-term and long-term success.
