GENERAL SUMMARY
EMC has an exciting opportunity for a Principal Product Marketing Manager to drive go-to-market planning and execution dedicated to offerings providing interoperability between our Content Management & Archiving (CMA) enterprise content management products and products offered by Microsoft Corporation.

EMC Documentum is the leader in Enterprise Content Management with thousands of customers around the world. A critical component of the success of EMC and the CMA division is how well EMC products interoperate with other popular applications. This role will be focused on bringing products to market that support interoperability with leading offers from Microsoft, with particular emphasis on Microsoft SharePoint.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Bridges development, product management and sales to ensure success in the market.
- Plans and implements launches, core positioning and messaging, sales training and marketing programs and for assigned products.
- Alignment and integration with other product and marketing functions to create greater customer value and market penetration.
- Alignment with the broader EMC-Microsoft corporate alliance team and partnership.
- Assessing market needs and requirements, investigating new technologies, developing recommendations for product direction, and pricing strategies.
- Also responsible for creating business plans, forecasts, profit and loss, margins, risk factors, pricing analysis and business recommendations.
- Guides product introductions and updates.
- Position requires ability to interface with all levels of organization including the executive management team as well as external customers, executive management, press and industry analysts and business partners.
- Executive interface: business plan reviews, executive summaries, influence and educate.
- Principal market evangelist with press and analysts.
EDUCATION & SKILLS
The Product Marketing Manager must have outstanding written, verbal communication and analysis skills. The Product Marketing Manager must be extremely comfortable in an environment where processes may be initially undefined – he/she will often be expected to be self-motivated and able to creatively address issues as they arise. This person will need particular and specific knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint and be able to address technical audiences about EMC and Microsoft products interoperate. In addition, the Product Marketing Manager must possess the following skills:
- Responsive: Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, while also managing reactive requests for support from sales, field enablement and other marketing groups.
- Collaborative: Able to work in a collaborative fashion and influence cross-functional teams with no direct reporting structure. This individual must be adept at gaining cross-functional buy-in on marketing goals, objectives and go-to-market strategy.
- Technical: Candidate must have a solid understanding of Microsoft SharePoint and an ability to grasp and succinctly articulate technical subject matter. The individual will work closely with Product Management and Engineering to develop offer materials that support technical aspects of product interoperability.
- Proactive: Willing and able to not just own projects - but develop and improve upon them. He or she must be creative and proactive, with a willingness to propose and support new programs that span training, sales enablement, and marketing.
- Flexible: Ability and willingness to adapt to quickly and regularly-changing needs from the product, sales and marketing organizations.
- Responsible: Self-motivated and accountable. Meets deadlines without direct monitoring and engagement.
- Results Oriented: Posses high-degree of initiative. Committed to driving results that support the overall CMA organization.
- Organized: Able to multi-task and juggle multiple long-term projects in concert with day-to-day requests and activities.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Job will be based out of the EMC office in Pleasanton, CA. Local candidates preferred; relocation costs will not be provided.
- Candidates must possess a minimum of 5 years product or solutions marketing experience in the high-technology industry – experience with content management products strongly preferred. Proven experience (2-3 years) with Microsoft technology - namely SharePoint - is highly desired.
- Approximately 25% travel required.
- Bachelor degree, technical degree or business degree required; MBA with 3+ years preferred.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to influence others to achieve results.
- Possesses an operational command of the business.
- Understanding of EMC’s products and their value add to the customer.
