Group Marketing Director, North America


 


Objective: As a key member of the North American Senior Leadership Team, this position will provide hands-on direction of the company’s commercial marketing activities to ensure maximized revenue and profit growth for the three North American business segments.  Specific responsibilities include strategic planning, market development, market research, company and product positioning, branding, competitive analysis, distribution strategies, pricing strategies, and marketing communications.  Create a best in class marketing organization that will differentiate the company from its competitors.    Active member of the Global Marketing Management Team responsible for providing strategic insight for go to market strategy, and product and business development.  Key member of the Global Marketing council focusing on key global improvement initiatives for the company.


 


Key Responsibilities:           


 



  • Create and implement winning marketing strategies for each division to achieve key objectives and financial performance. Provide strategic input to business development activities pertinent to the NA market for long term strategic growth.

  • Define the appropriate marketing organizational structure to support the short term and long term goals of the division. Develop the talent of the team, elevating our overall marketing skills through leadership, training and best practice sharing. 

  • Implement a consistent process around strategic planning including corporate positioning, market and competitive analysis, customer segment selection and penetration plans, and related product positioning. 

  • Oversee marketing communications including branding, public relations, advertising, trade shows, seminars and events, market research management, and website design and content.

  • Execute quickly on acquisitions to achieve the intended results, maximizing return on investment.

  •  Define and direct marketing programs for demand creation and lead generation.  Interface with sales for lead tracking and management.  Expand lead flow across product lines, and work with sales to determine lead quality and quantity within an allowable cost structure.

  • Lead Smart Pricing initiatives to drive maximum pocket margin, working closely with the sales teams.

  • Collaborate with Sales leaders to create optimal channel and dealer strategies.

  • Oversee product management including market and customer research for market and product requirements, interface with the Business Units (BUs) for product development, product pricing and product lifecycle management.  

  • Conduct talent review and human resource development plans for the marketing team that will facilitate continuous improvement and organizational excellence.

  • Create a results-oriented team culture that motivates and retains employees and demands high level performance.

  • Develop and track metrics and success criteria for all marketing programs and activities. 

  • Build and maintain marketing budget across product lines to ensure maximum results for financial and human capital available. 

  • Drive the lean philosophy throughout all levels, and ensure that lean becomes a way of life.

 Qualifications:


 



  • Minimum of Bachelors Degree - MBA preferred but not required.

  • Minimum of 10 years of increasing marketing responsibility within the scientific instrumentation, diagnostic, clinical and/or medical device segment.

  • A capacity for strategic thinking/planning as well as tactical implementation. 

  • Proven ability to manage across a broad range of market segments

  • Successful track record of effective communication and teaming at a multicultural, global organization with demonstrated results in marketing management.

  • The successful candidate will be a strong leader, an excellent communicator and outstanding developer of talent.

  • Ability to think creatively to develop innovative and cost-effective marketing plans.
