Section Head, Product Engineering - Mech Design

Section head within the Product Engineering Center, responsible for assisting the management team in the vision, leadership and execution of product engineering functions including mechanical design/electronic packaging and related software/tools/process optimization and automation. Specific responsibilities may include, but may not be limited to, functional & performance management of a section of 10-16 direct reports, assisting in day-to-day operations, new business proposal and costing support, product commonization, R&D activities, programs and services interface, cross-discipline initiatives, staffing, recruiting, preventative action board support, process development, enforcement & streamlining, technical reviews and mentorship, resource planning and issue resolution. Section heads within the Product Engineering Center typically perform a dual role - functional manager with responsibilities outlined above, as well as a technical role on a program as subsystem or unit lead product engineer. Basic Qualifications: BS degree in engineering (or a closely related field of study) with a minimum of nine years of related experience of RF, digital, and/or power and control electronics hardware or an MS degree in engineering (or a closely related field of study with a minimum of seven years of related experience of RF, digital, and/or power and control electronics hardware. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications is required. Candidates must have some experience leading/managing teams. Candidates must meet the requirements for obtaining a SSBI security clearance. Preferred Experience: Preferred applicant is a proven leader in the area of electronic packaging for space and/or air borne electronic hardware. Major programs experience spanning all phases of the development cycle from cradle to grave is preferred. Detailed knowledge of mechanical design, packaging technology and ECAD/MCAD software is highly desirable. Candidates currently possessing an active SSBI security clearance are preferred.
