JOB DESCRIPTION

Digital Cement is enjoying a sustained period of increased demand for its services from US-based clients and needs a Marketing Strategist located in Stamford to join its ranks.  As the team lead for many of our client projects, the Marketing Strategist will shape breakthrough marketing programs for clients looking to adopt relationship marketing practices. 


 


Digital Cement’s clients are fundamentally changing how they interact with their customers.  This change is at the very heart of how the firm’s clients operate.  The strategic issues raised are simultaneously enormous and tangible.  It can be an exhilarating task to help clients adapt in fundamental ways; however, it requires individuals that understand the nuances of today’s business context while applying conceptual thinking rooted in reality.  The successful candidate must have the vision and imagination to help shape the marketing organizations of the future and will be looked upon to lead our diverse team of professionals to successful outcomes for our clients.  


 


Role of Marketing Strategy at Digital Cement:       


 



  • The marketing strategy discipline at Digital Cement combines three competencies:  (1) client management; (2) strategic consulting; (3) marketing planning       

  • Marketing Strategists are the DC lead for all planning projects      

  • Responsible for overall project success

  • Manage relationship with client

  • Work in concert with a variety of disciplines, coordinating, facilitating and guiding a cross functional team to a successful program design, that DC then implements 


 


 


Job Requirements:       


 



  • "First off the bench" in supporting the business development efforts of VP Strategy Growth and Business Development Managers - provide support once tangible opportunities are identified to frame the client problem and propose a solution that can be sold·       

  • Work closely with all functional groups with Digital Cement, including Value (strategic analytics & measurement), Design, and Operations (Business Systems Analysis, Project Management Office and technical SMEs)·       

  • Reports to Director of Marketing Strategy 


 


Client Leadership Skills:       


 



  • Ability to develop strong relationship with Marketing Director or equivalent       

  • Contributes to building strong DC/Client team relationship that helps us further business goals

  • Ability to pre/post sell-through solutions

  • Manages well through conflict

  • Understands the client’s business, beyond CRM, thinks beyond project list

  • Has clear understanding of impact of business events on CRM solution·       

  • Plans client/program activity to a 12-18 month horizon

  • Takes ownership, initiative and is self-directed.  Able to deal effectively with ambiguity, change and complexity


 


Strategic Consulting Skills:


 



  • Consistently demonstrates strong understanding of industry trends       

  • Ability to apply theoretical strategy to day-to-day requirements       

  • Experience with project problem diagnosis, solution development, facilitation of decision making·       

  • Can clearly articulate success criteria for a particular problem       

  • Able to attack ambiguous business problems, develop a problem-solving approach and guide clients and colleagues through a decision-making process       

  • Ability to inform decision through competitive insights, best-in-class industry standards and market structure analysis       

  • Highly comfortable facilitating group discussions to meet pre-defined outcomes 


Marketing Skills:     



  • Strong understanding of theory and application of marketing strategy fundamentals       

  • Good understanding of online consumer behaviours, emerging trends and thoughtful about how they can be applied in a marketing context       

  • Insight into emerging developments in marketing communications, including social media, user-generated content, CRM, relationship marketing       

  • Regularly generates ideas and initiatives 


 


Project Management and Leadership Skills:


 



  • Runs assigned business with minimal supervision

  • Leads client and DC teams through the planning phase of programs

  • Delegates when appropriate

  • Can create a strong strategic plan with goals, milestones and priorities for the internal team

  • Effectively oversees client budgets, identifying issues/trouble-shooting

  • Demonstrates an understanding of agency resources/costs/efficiencies

  • Brings good judgment, broader perspective, and stress management to "crisis" situations  


Qualifications:


 



  • 4+ years at strategy or marketing consultancy as an undergrad or 2+ yrs as a graduate (enough to develop strong client management skills in addition to basic consulting skills)

  • 2+ yrs in a marketing role (marketing strategy at consultancy, traditional agency, digital agency or industry)

  • Completed undergraduate degree with outstanding credentials

  • Post graduate degree and/or professional designation an asset

  • Minimum of 7+ years of relevant work experience·        Understands and has worked in B2B marketing environments, either as an industry participant or in a professional services context, OR

  • Understands and has worked in pharmaceutical marketing, either as an industry participant or in a professional services context

  • Communication - superior written, verbal and meeting skills

  • Demonstrates superior leadership skills, confidence and a high level of maturity

  • Strong business acumen and experience in communicating at Executive level

  • Canadian/US travel required, possibility for international travel
