As the Chief Marketing Officer at NEA’s Member Benefits Corporation, an affinity marketing company, you will lead all aspects of marketing in support of growing the organization’s mission and marketing strategy. Reporting directly to the President and Chief Executive Officer, the CMO will set the direction and leadership for overall product management, channel marketing, marketing communication, brand development, sales and program integration to NEA members and state affiliates with a marketing team of sixty plus employes. In this newly created position, the successful candidate will be a member of the senior leadership body and will be expected to set the marketing direction to sustain and grow the Company’s overall revenue and maintain our solid financial position.
In this role, you will work on multiple projects, spending your time establishing both short and long-range strategic marketing plans and programs to achieve corporate objectives to increase the level of sales and membership participation while improving the brand image. The rest of your time will be focused on building the organizational structure to ensure optimum product and program management by developing subordinate staff, scrutinizing educator market trends, communication of your research, problem solving, learning from and exchange ideas with our members, and finding new ways to serve them.

Education and Experience: A Bachelors Degree in a relevant field or related discipline and a Masters or MBA. Ten years experience with a demonstrated track record in a senior marketing management position with supervisory responsibilities for several product and marketing support services departments. Five years of experience with an affinity marketing organization working closely with managing vendor and supplier relationships.
Skills, Abilities and Attributes: Understanding of the educational marketing cycles, trends and issues related to the education industry (public school educators, ESP’s, Higher Education, etc). Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills; the ability to exercise good judgment with a capacity of communicating with a diverse range of individuals. A demonstrated command of multiple marketing channels including direct mail, advertising, Web and Web 2.0. Expertise of professional, technical, and/or administrative knowledge and experience to conceptualize, plan, organize, develop, decide, implement, administer, staff, control, evaluate, and/or facilitate and execute in areas of strategic planning and marketing, business and market development, market research and planning and promotions/advertising. A demonstrated ability to lead and mentor people and get results through others; the ability to think ahead and plan over a 1-5 year time span. The ability to organize and manage multiple priorities. Problem analysis and problem resolution at both a strategic and functional level. Strong customer orientation. Demonstrated track record of high performance teams and a strong team player.
