JOB DESCRIPTION
Microsoft is seeking a Senior Content Manager to work on MSW, the award-winning corporate portal used by more than 90,000 employees worldwide. MSW helps employees find everything they need to know about Microsoft -- from the latest industry news and what’s happening in the company to quick and simple tools for navigating the intranet and accomplishing common tasks. The role requires a collaborative, “self-starter” work style. In this position, you will be considered the expert in engaging Microsoft employees through daily homepage and external news content as well as content programs across the portal. You must be a master collaborator and communicate clearly and effectively to varying audiences; have strong analytical skills; excellent organizational skills; and be able to thrive in a busy, deadline-driven environment. If you’re smart and innovative, able to develop creative approaches to complex user experience problems, have sound editorial judgment and are willing to pursue solutions that go beyond those asked for, this role is for you. We will be looking for someone with a resume of outstanding accomplishments and demonstrated success working on (internal or external) websites.
Responsibilities:
Own and drive the MSW site voice and style guide - helping employees be informed and productive.
Be a fierce advocate for helping users get the right content at the right time from the right sources each day on MSW.
Site and email/RSS programming (homepage, news tab, video, social, daily newswire, InsideMS blog, MSW blog, user polls, executive announcements, company information, portal content, breaking news, new features, blogs, slideshows, etc)
Build a strong network of communications partners across the company. Also, collaborate effectively with the News Channel team to ensure programming aligns with the editorial style and voice of MSW and increases traffic and satisfaction.
Make sure the site has a broad and relevant image archive to draw from
Work with Site Management on monthly editorial scorecard and additional metrics needed to increase identified KPIs. Use metrics to improve content quality and offerings.
Adopt and drive process improvement to content management agility on SharePoint 2010.
Help drive and evolve social features such as blogs, personalization, video, etc., on the site to build community within Microsoft.
Partner with Site Management and Hosted/Portal Content Manager to conceive, plan and lead long-term editorial projects.
Build in-depth knowledge of the site, users, stakeholders and technology
Execute and direct all-up editorial calendar to drive content budget across portfolio
Participate in 3 year strategy planning for site evolution (Office 14 and beyond)
Help coach/develop strong high-producing publishing team
Participate in customer engagements (EBC)
Requirements:
Strong leader who will be able to extend his/her impact across the entire site portfolio
Strong user and data focus; synthesize user feedback to help drive content decisions
Strong editorial judgment; experience maintaining high editorial standards (balance and fairness, specifically) under deadline pressure
Strong understanding of Microsoft culture and employee audience
Strong networking skills. Must be able to initiate, drive, and leverage relationships with other Microsoft teams.
Strong writing and editing skills
Strong understanding of online content management
Strong project management and collaborative work style
Strong ability to speak with authority and be heard with confidence
8-10 years content management or editorial management experience in the online industry required. Experience managing a team preferred. Familiarity with SharePoint portals and WebTrends a plus.

The Senior Content manager will be responsible for managing critical, highly visible content and helping increase user satisfaction and traffic to MSW.
