Register.com is seeking a strategic and innovative Director of Product Management to lead and optimize the company’s efforts to develop new channels, acquire customers and increase revenue on a global level.  This talented, senior individual will be responsible for defining and managing a number of our core products and channels.  The ideal candidate will have a successful track record of managing multiple products in an online environment.  They should have an intuitive understanding of the business drivers and metrics that affect the domain industry and have demonstrated their ability to influence revenue and results.   To be successful in this role, the Director of Product Management will need to thoughtfully manage the P&L for the products, relationships with relevant vendors, product marketing plans, competitive analysis, and product roadmaps.   Partnering with the Technology, Marketing, and Customer Support teams, the Director will be responsible for developing specifications for product improvements to meet growth and efficiency needs.  The Director must strive for excellence in their work, demonstrate integrity and a customer-focused orientation, and posses a passion for product innovation.


 


Principal Responsibilities: (Essential Function):


 


Strategic Product Management



  • Owning the Product Roadmap and vision; working to present and win approval for major roadmap initiatives

  • Accountability for the product’s P&L and pricing policy; ensuring profitability of product against established goals.

  • Oversight for long-range business and technology forecasting.

  • Understanding and analyzing financial models with the ability to create revenue and cost models for product initiatives.

  • Gathering feedback on product positioning, competitors, and market development; knowable about the industry landscape.

  • Anticipating and identifying customer needs, and defining products and services to facilitate the fulfillment of those needs.


 


Project Management



  • Providing leadership to cross-functional project teams, and maintaining project documentation.

  • Driving product brainstorming, conducting project kickoff meetings, and defining project scope.

  • Working closely with Marketing to develop marketing plans and campaigns for products.

  • Facilitating technical, operational and/or business requirements definition for company initiatives.

  • Developing detailed baseline project plans and identifying project dependencies.

  • Communicating status, issues and risks to project stakeholders.



  • Monitoring product performance and overall customer satisfaction.

  • Managing ongoing relationships with product vendors with the goal of leveraging vendor expertise and maximizing product performance.


 


Leadership



  • Managing a small team to achieve team goals; establishing work plans, skill development needs and other elements of managing people.



  • Partnering with other Product Managers to share best practices and generate synergistic opportunities.

  • Educating and articulating the product’s capabilities to internal/external audiences.


 


Experience Required:



  • Minimum 6-10 years experience in a product management role;

  • Minimum 3 years experience working in ecommerce, Internet/new media or software application development.

  • Experience taking strategic business initiatives and crafting clear, thorough functional requirements, which can be implemented by Engineering or 3rd Parties.

  • Experience with 3rd Party vendor management a plus.


 


Education:



  • Bachelor’s degree from a top tier institution.

  • MBA is preferred.


 


Job Skills:



  • Demonstrated track record of successfully planning and leading small to medium-scale projects.

  • Proven ability to construct business cases and plans, including financial plans and cost / benefit analyses.

  • Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills, and experience applying these skills to resolve product design and technical issues.

  • Effective time, budget and prioritization management skills.

  • Deadline conscious, results-driven, and high-performing in an entrepreneurial environment.

  • Ability to demonstrate a strong commercial acumen and attention to detail.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills.

  • Ability to partner with other departments and varying levels of management.
