This leadership position provides a fun and challenging opportunity to set strategy and drive part of Microsofts worldwide marketing for student usage of our platform and tools in high schools, colleges, and universities. It even includes driving some of the coolest programs Microsoft has like Imagine Cup - the world’s largest student technology competition (www.imaginecup.com) - or Students To Business - the program that connects students to their future employers!

Key responsibilities include:
• Drive all up messaging and communications strategy for global academic initiatives.
• Taking chances to do amazing things on a global scale
• Industry and competitive analysis.
• Public relations.
• Drive perception shift and adoption through cutting edge marketing that at great scale.
• Utilize online and offline experiences, as well as key partnerships that drive relevance with student audiences.
• Build and tune overall perception and satisfaction marketing strategy to drive future results and connect key efforts across years.
• Develop an audience marketing model for students from high school through higher education, and for the educators who influence them, and use this to drive insight and inform campaign decisions.
• Leverage cross group connections inside Microsoft to add scale to your team’s efforts. Including communication and coordination with multiple teams within Microsoft
• Additionally a key component to this position is working with our subsidiaries around the world and empowering their efforts: your success depends on their success.

This is a high-profile role. Our ideal candidate will have:
• A strong drive for results.
• A demonstrated, successful, history of building marketing strategy and execution.
• An affinity for our youthful (ages 14-26) customers and a passion for deeply understanding the key demographics, lifestyles, habits and practices of both students and educators - and most importantly an ability to translate this into informed campaign decisions and communicate effectively with them.
• A demonstrated ability to connect online and offline tactics to reach goals with an international audience.
• Ability to manage independently and take chance
• At least 7 years of experience in product or audience marketing and/or public relations - including campaign and budget management - preferably in a Microsoft subsidiary, regional headquarters, or with an international focus.
• Strong and proven people management skills with at least 3 years experience.
• Excellent oral, written, and analytical skills - especially in English. Additional language ability is a plus but not required.
• Outstanding interpersonal skills are also required. You need to be decisive, action-oriented, and be able to motivate, inspire, and lead.
• Ability to manage within a strong smart team

Finally, since this role has worldwide responsibilities, some international travel will be necessary.
