Director of Marketing

Our client is a Southern California, very fast growing and profitable Hedge Fund. They seek a 7-12 year experienced head of marketing. HEDGE FUND, FUND-OF-FUND AND/OR ALTERNATIVE MARKETING MANAGEMENT IS ABSOLUTELY REQUIRED. THE CLIENT WILL PROVIDE FULL RELOCATION REIMBURSEMENT.

Marketing Director

Altegris Investments is a dynamic, successful investment firm specializing in alternative investments.  We gather information on thousands of hedge funds and managed-futures products, and through rigorous due diligence, offer a select group of these products to our deep list of clients and prospects. Our current clients have $2 billion in trading level allocated to investments on our platform.

We are in a very exciting phase of growth and searching for a highly talented Marketing Director to help us further develop our marketing strategy and “build our brand” through powerful, integrated communications programs.  This requires the ability to educate our key market channels – high-net-worth and institutional investors, registered investment advisers and broker-dealers – about hedge funds through a deep understanding of their values, expectations and needs.  Our Director must be masterful at:

Our Marketing Director’s specific job responsibilities will include:

q  Working closely with senior management to develop strategic marketing plans including corporate, lines-of-business and for each of the distribution channels

q  Overseeing the execution of our strategic marketing plans through media such as websites, direct mail, electronic delivery, webinars, onsite meetings and presentations, conferences and seminars, and public relations

q  Leading new product launches and managing the production and distribution of comprehensive investment fund materials on a weekly, bi-weekly and monthly basis

q  Creating, implementing, and directing business-development and client-servicing campaigns using Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software (GoldMine)

q  Managing information delivery to current clients to enhance customer service and retention

q  Working closely with the Research Department to produce and distribute educational pieces such as white papers on hedge-fund strategies

q  Leading the writing, design, editing and production of all marketing materials and communications

q  Producing the firm’s annual investment conference

q  Ensuring the company’s strict compliance with stringent regulatory restrictions pertaining to the marketing and business-development process in the investment industry

q  Leading, managing and developing a staff of 4+ professionals

Requirements: 

q  M.B.A. or similar credential

q  7+ years of experience in Financial Services marketing

q  5+ years of experience in alternative investments with in-depth knowledge of hedge fund and managed futures strategies

q  Deep understanding of investment management and ability to apply analytical skills to describe and communicate complex investment strategies

q  Familiarity with high-net-worth investors, registered investment advisors (RIAs) and broker-dealers (BDs)

q  Understanding of regulation and compliance governing BDs and RIAs and the marketing of hedge funds, as well as managed futures investments.

q  Outstanding, verifiable skill in working collaboratively with senior management, client-development executives and other departments

q  Leadership skills to develop a strong, established internal team

q  An effective communicator, with superb writing ability across all functional marketing activities

q  Exceptional creativity and idea-generation skill

q  Highly analytical eye for detail and precision

q  Project-management experience; effective in managing complexity

q  Strong PowerPoint skills and expertise across the MS Office suite

Preferred:

q  Design experience

q  CRM experience

q  Series 7, 63/65 and 3 Registrations[WR1] 

q  CAIA
