JOB DESCRIPTION

Product Manager - Global Search Technology.


 


In this very high visibility technology Product Management role, you’ll have the opportunity to help a well established and very profitable technology company expand its offerings in the online/digital marketing and search engine sector.  To be considered for this position, you should have previous software or web product management expertise, specifically in the digital marketing, media, or search space.


 


Position Description: This role will involve interacting with groups of highly talented people. You should be business-minded, with a passion for the web and online media. As Product Manager, you will work with a team that is charged with a product line contribution as a business unit. This extends from increasing the profitability of existing products to developing new products for the company.


 



  • You will build products and services from existing ideas, and help to develop new ideas based on your industry experience and your contact with customers and prospects.

  • You must possess a unique blend of business and technical savvy; a big-picture vision, and the drive to make that vision a reality.

  • You must enjoy spending time in the market to understand their problems, and find innovative solutions for the broader market.

  • You must be able to communicate with all areas of the company.

  • You will work with an engineering, technology and other counterparts to define product release requirements.

  • You will work with marketing communications to define the go-to-market strategy, helping them understand the product positioning, key benefits, and target customer.

  • You will also serve as the internal and external evangelist for your product and services offering, occasionally working with the sales channel and key customers.

  • You will deliver point-of-view presentations on market and technology directions, product definition, project budget management, risk definition and risk management, schedule development, contract writing, management of external engineering partners, strategy participation, intellectual property management and examining new technologies for possible application within the business unit.


 


Responsibilities: · Proactively monitoring overall progress, resolving issues and initiating corrective action as appropriate · Managing the entire product line life cycle from strategic planning to tactical activities. · Specifying market requirements for current and future products by conducting market research supported by on-going visits to customers and non-customers. · Driving a solution set across services teams (primarily operations, solutions and marketing Communications) through market requirements, product contract, and positioning. · Developing and implementing a company-wide go-to-market plan, working with all departments to execute. · Analyzing potential partner relationships for the product. · Ensuring that the delivery of new services for the program is at appropriate levels of quality, on time and within budget, in accordance with the program goals. · Managing third party contributions to the program. · Managing communications with all stakeholders. · Managing both the dependencies and the interfaces within the program. · Managing risks to the achievement of the program’s goals. · Initiating extra activities and other management interventions wherever gaps in the program are identified or issues arise. · Reporting progress of the program at regular intervals.


 


Educational Requirements: · A bachelors degree, in computer science/engineering discipline. A business or marketing masters degree would be a distinct advantage.


 


Skills & Experience: · 3-5 years experience in managing global or large scale programs as a technology product manager. · Effective leadership, interpersonal and communication skills. · Ability to create a sense of community amongst the often disparate members of the project teams. · Good knowledge of techniques for planning, monitoring and controlling programs. · Good knowledge of project management approaches, such as PRINCE2, PMI or similar. · Good knowledge of budgeting and resource allocation procedures. · Analytical skills and ability to bring concise insights to large volumes of data. · The ability to find ways of solving or pre-empting problems.
