JOB DESCRIPTION

Company is seeking a talented Manager with extensive telecommunications product management expertise to support the development and introduction of an enhanced suite of voice peering products for the company’s interconnection product offerings to local service providers.  In this role the ideal candidate will initially contribute to the creation and expansion of the company’s peering product strategy and then develop the supporting business cases and analysis needed to go to market.  In this capacity, the Manager will analyze enhanced product requirements, cost/benefit trade-offs, and implementation options to develop financial objectives, product development plans, technical services requirements, operational goals and metrics. 

 

The position will report to the Senior Director of Product Development & Management and will work internally with executives and staff members of the Operations, Sales, Finance, and Engineering teams and externally with supply chain and interconnection partners ensuring clarity on goals, financial objectives, product development plans, technical services and operational goals are successfully met.

 

 Primary Responsibilities:

 

 Rapidly evaluate existing peering capabilities, voice products and services, in-house telecommunication network infrastructure, operations capabilities and 3rd Party voice partnerships.

 

Develop and drive enhanced peering product strategies and supporting business cases that include:

 

Analysis of customer needs, technology trends, and the competitive landscape for termination and/or origination of voice traffic through a peering infrastructure.

 

Product planning standards and processes that outline and define key goals, strategies and tactics

 

Technical peering solutions, voice partner selections, internal capital/resource requirements and ROI analysis that align with customer needs and company budgets.

 

Product roadmaps, positioning and priorities

 

Manage internal/external customer, stakeholder and 3rd party expectations while developing peering supply chain and interconnection contract partnerships.

 

Brief and train both sales and technical teams to ensure maximal familiarity with the enhanced product features and benefits.

 

P&L responsibility for optimizing enhanced peering product revenues to yield the maximum margin while maintaining voice quality standards.


Qualifications:

 

 

Proven ability to identify new or enhanced product opportunities and product development / management strategies while at the same time ensuring that the current suite of products are being maximized.

 

Peering expertise coupled with 5+ years of voice product development and management experience in a rapidly growing domestic USA telecommunications / IT operations environment.

 

Demonstrated expertise in business case development, product planning, development process disciplines, and new product implementation.

 

Expert understanding of telecommunications product development life cycle and the operations requirements and performance metrics needed to support new or enhanced voice products.  Prior experience with bilateral voice services helpful.

 

Extensive voice telecommunication services experience acquired within a large enterprise or carrier environment.

 

Demonstrated initiative, creativity and motivation to deliver new voice products successfully.

 

Familiarity with telecommunications regulatory compliance and tariff requirements.

 

Ability to assess changes in business case dependencies and new business requirements and implement corrective solutions.

 

Ability to effectively manage competing priorities

 

Impressive presentation skills and hands on experience leading geographically dispersed internal teams.
