Responsibilities


As Product Development Director you will be responsible for managing and accomplishing the entire product development cycle from conceptualizing a product idea to researching and evaluating the idea to setting analytic goals and requirements to finally packaging and positioning of the idea as an ISO product.  In this role you will responsible for the following areas:


Market Intelligence


  • Gather input from our customers and prospects about their wants, needs, processes, desired implementation options, etc. This input would be gathered through both direct customer interaction and by collecting input the ISO sales force. Provide ongoing customer-point-of-view input to active projects

  • Research and provide general market intelligence on industry trends and competitor activities

Product Ideation and Evaluation


  • Identify new market opportunities by matching iiA capabilities with unfulfilled needs in the marketplace

  • Gather opportunities identified by others

  • Do directed research and evaluate opportunities using the business plan process.

  • Determine analytic, computing, and data resources required to execute high priority opportunities

  • Prioritize and recommend specific projects for development based on expected return, risk, feasibility, and fit with ISO’s product portfolio.

Project Management


  • For approved projects, coordinate with Analytics and Product Management and other ISO departments outside of iiA to create comprehensive development plan including final product specifications, analytic approach, implementation approach, and project schedule.

  • Monitor progress to project schedule.

  • Manage project change control process

Coordination with Product Management


Coordinate with Product Management, Marketing and Sales Teams for the hand-off of market-ready products.


  • Product Positioning and pricing

  • Revenue goals and marketing plans

  • Sales and marketing materials

  • Production implementation

  • Customer service requirements

Requirements


  • Advanced quantitative or business degree (Masters or PhD) with experience building and/or managing predictive modeling initiatives is required.

  • 6+ years of experience in analytics, including 3+ years of experience in P&C insurance analytics, doing advanced model development work or consulting and implementation of analytic solutions to solve specific business problems is required.  Must be self-motivated and passionate about applying analytical solutions to solve diverse business issues.

  • 3+ years managing and executing the analytics product development cycle from conceptualizing a product idea to researching and evaluating the idea to setting analytic goals and requirements to finally packaging and positioning of the idea is required.  You must be able to demonstrate exceptional strategic understanding, project management skills, team leadership, and ability to work with customers.

  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills required.  Ability to communicate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

  • Demonstrated P&C domain knowledge through qualifications such as FCAS/ACAS or CPCU is a plus.

  • Knowledge and experience with diverse statistical and data mining methods (e.g., GLM/Regression, Trees, Neural nets, SVMs, etc.) is desirable.

  • Ability to manage/develop staff and mentor junior members is required.

  • Ability to effectively manage cross-functional projects that may include contributors from higher levels in the organization.
