Standard Job Description
Evaluates and reviews consumer research, point-of-sale and syndicated data. Reports findings for major marketing, distribution, and manufacturing proposals and their impact on the sales function. Participates in the central development and implementation of new products, re-launches, new business building programs, sales rationale, etc. May also participate in presales or sales meetings to review proposed plans. Functions as liaison between regional sales and marketing function. Provides and/or initiates sales analysis affecting distribution, spending as it relates to volume, brand promotional strategy, and selling tools.
Specific Job Description
Builds effective/credible relationships with US Navy/USMC and Missile Defense Agency customer communities. Must understand and be able to articulate customer requirements for Fire Support and Missile Defense needs. Works closely with counterparts in Business Development, Technical Operations, and Program Management to match customer needs to MFC’s capabilities and business ambitions. Must demonstrate keen understanding of customer’s Concept of Operations (CONOPS) for Fire Support and Missile Defense aboard warships, current systems capabilities and future desired capabilities. Will assist in business strategy development and business plan execution. Will assist in the development of NBAE plans for both B&P and IR&D funding needs to support business plans. Will represent the business at trade shows and technical symposia, should be able to demonstrate good working knowledge of competitor systems, technical capabilities, relative strengths and weaknesses.
Typical Minimums
Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 18 or more years of professional experience; or 15 years of professional experience with a related Masters degree. This position is used on exception basis and is typically limited to Business Area/Corporate staffs.
Required skills
Retired USN Captain or Commander with extensive surface warfare experience which may include the following: Aegis command experience, or Standard Missile program management experience; Other surface Navy command experience including knowledge of Naval Surface Fire Support for engaged forces ashore; doctrine, CONOPS, tactics, techniques and procedures and requirements development for Naval Surface Fire Support programs; Customer knowledge and credibility/experience with US Navy Fleet Forces Command, Missile Defense Agency, Office of naval Research (ONR), N-86, and Navy Operational Commands
Knowledge of and experience with the Department of Defense Acquisition System
Command or Senior Staff experience in USN, Joint, and/or Coalition Integrated Air and Missile Defense or Surface Fire Support operations
Demonstrated ability to see and understand business development trends and the needs of customers
Demonstrated ability to establish Industry Relationships to further explore potential partners to create new capabilities
Excellent verbal and written skills necessary to clearly articulate market entry strategies both internal and external to the organization
Effective at organizing and motivating a diverse set of individuals to act as “one” in the pursuit of common new business objectives
Desired skills
Supporting Arms Coordination Center (SACC) experience or knowledge
Advanced degree in Business or other relevant discipline
