My client is a major provider of offshore product development (OPD) services to software and services companies – the ISV’s of the world. I’m working directly with the president to find a Director of Account Management who will focus on growing the footprint in existing accounts in tandem with the sales and technical project teams. This is a pure-play OPD services sale: there is NO "product" involved so in-depth experience selling totally conceptual, "each one is a new one" type of solutions is absolutely essential for this role.
This role will entail a great deal of phone and some face-to-face work with clients to ensure project success as well as addition of new projects to grow the presence in the account. Personal experience with the Indian culture, timezone challenges, people styles and more will help persuade my client of your ability to balance the key elements of this role. They are unable to sponsor at this time so someone who is eligible to work for any employer in the US is essential. A valid passport coupled with a willingness to travel to and from India as well as domestically is also a prerequisite.
We definitely need someone with a strong background in representing primarily software services, better yet offshore ISV services/account management. Either DC or Silicon Valley locations will work – there is NO relo assistance offered nor are they willing to entertain a candidate not already in either locale. The strongest preference is for a former OPD person with strong Indian experience who is technically sharp and a great communicator.

> 15+ years of experience in the role of an account manager with Global Clients in, Telecom Healthcare, Mobile, cutting edge internet applications
> MS and a Biz degree would be ideal
> Must be a significant thought leader and have a major track record of success in large client and project oversight
> Able to manage growth of accounts; after sales has closed the deal
> Able to handle long and odd hours; dealing with India timezone challenges - like 6AM conference calls before starting a long day at the office - MUST be driven and high-energy
>Strong need to be based in San Jose - possibly Mid-Atlantic area
> Some background as a developer would be ideal because of need to routinely deal with technologists and CTO types
> Will identify other deal opportunities within existing clients – doing the upfront to grow the footprint
> Personality that’s credible – can’t appear to be a salesman
> Get’s technology, creative, interpreting what the problem is the first stage - Savvy is key!!!
> Strong account management skills are essential
> Job jumpers will NOT get any traction with this client
Experience with firms like Persistent, Aztec Software, Keane, Hexaware, Cognizant, Patni, AppLabs, E5 Systems, Clix Marketing, Cybage Software, Genpact, GlobalLogic, HCL Technologies, Infinite Computer Solutions, Keane, PSI Data Systems, Satyam, Subex Azure, WNS Global Services, Renaissance IT, ValueLabs, Trigent, HyTechPro, Sonata Software, Sigma Software Solutions, Tech Mahindra, Intelligroup, Nagarro, Qualsoft, Gateway Technolabs, Aditi and other similar firms in the offshore space would be a significant plus. While Indian offshore experience is mandatory the additional key is the focus of that expertise. OPD is critical. There is little interest – for this particular client – in seeing experience with application implementation or packaged app sales.
The base range is fairly open with a target of $140K to $150K+ with upside bonus that will take the total potential to $200K to $225K or better. Solid benefits and great office environment in the San Jose area will help make this a strong career move. This is an excellent role for someone who actually "gets it" and has done something similar IN THE INDIAN OFFSHORE SERVICES SPACE – specifically OPD - before.
