JOB DESCRIPTION

My long-time client has asked me to find a VP of Marketing (new role for them) to champion their offshore product development efforts and help establish the brand on a global basis. They are uniquely positioned – with numerous solid client relationships – to build off of their success and domain expertise in areas that include wireless mobility applications, software quality assurance and much more.


Here’s the baseline of what we’re looking for:


Solid experience with 10+ years successful background developing and executing marketing strategies to attract global clients in telecom, wireless, healthcare and other cutting edge internet applications. We’ll expect you to lead marketing for their premier OPD company to ensure that their tremendous technology differentiators are well known and further to help position the company as the most innovative and compelling OPD company in the industry.

Responsibilities of the role:


  • Build and head up the marketing team and effort for the firm – the focus will be to DO more than build, initially
  • Play pivotal focal point role for assessing viability of product focus areas with prioritization based on lead gen and revenue potential
  • Travel to India to become acquainted with MarCom staff and practice/thought leaders
  • Develop messaging, value, and outbound strategies leading to the gathering and processing of inbound leads
  • Mentor, guide each focus area in message creation and approve the messages
  • Lead development of supporting issues like whitepapers, case studies
  • Lead and guide each focus group by organizing and leading participation in online or speaking opportunities as well as panel discussions, online communities and blogs
  • Lead and assume responsibility for broadcast outreach including webinars, trade shows, Google ad campaigns, email blasts, as well as advertising in other media (if any)
  • Responsible for company web site and SEO to drive traffic
  • Take responsibility for marketing budget
  • Make sales calls with sales execs for key prospects


Requirements for the role:


  • BS and MBA are essential
  • San Jose, California location – local preferred; relo may be up for discussion
  • Ability to understand markets for technology services in various niche technology domains
  • Understanding of the ISV landscape and psyche of CTOs and VPs of Engineering – solid technically
  • Experience driving message creation and delivery for your prior company to be perceived as a thought leader
  • Understand the mechanics of lead generation in services space
  • Ability to work in a distributed global organization.
  • Proven experience generating inbound leads with ISVs greater than $10MM in revenue or over 100 people
  • Great sense of Marketing Messaging, expressing meaningful differences and the value prop in a services play
  • Familiar w/offshore processes where communication and support initiatives are distance & timezone challenged
  • Leadership and communication skills are  key
  • Very well acquainted in the ISV software development lifecycle, its points of sensitivity, and how OPD can drive high levels of success
  • Familiarity and rapport over time with decision makers within their accounts, ability to gain support for marketing initiatives


My client offers a competitive base salary in the $150K to $175K range with solid upside bonus to the $200K+ range. Full benefits and more – possibly including options.
