Vice President Business Development Energy

Overview: Our client is a worldwide manufacturer and distributor of equipment and tools for the Energy Industry with a presence in over 100 countries around the world. For its newly defined strategic business development efforts in the Energy sector, the company wishes to attract the Vice President Strategic Business Development with the qualifications to move up to the position of Senior Vice President-Energy within about 12 to 18 months.

Responsibilities: Oversee and direct a group of 6-8 directors and senior directors responsible for coverage of U.S.-based global owners and designers across various segments of the energy industry. This leader will be involved in supporting the development of high-level relationships with targeted accounts and the coordination of engineering and sales activities to ensure successful specification of the company’s products and conversion to sales. Her / his team will orchestrate available resources to effectively manage and penetrate high profile, high potential projects domestically and internationally. He / she will be an active member of the global key account management community and will communicate effectively with resources around the world in order to properly support targeted customers and their projects. The VP Business Development will allocate resources in a manner that drives sales productivity and efficiently manage costs in order to drive bottom line growth. This person will be a key member of the Energy senior leadership team and will be actively involved in establishing and disseminating the company’s strategy and business plan. In addition to leading existing resources he / she will be involved in making business development resource investments into new energy segments as the company seeks to uncover future growth opportunities.

Qualifications:

The right candidate will display the leadership band width required to serve on the company’s Energy Management Team and will have an interest in General Management responsibilities. A well orchestrated "on-boarding" process will be used to successfully integrate the candidate into the organization ensuring preparedness for the initial and future roles. Clear succession of Senior VP Energy within 12-18 months.

Background / Education / Experience -- undergraduate degree in engineering (civil, mechanical, chemical preferred) and a post-graduate degree in business or engineering, 6-8 years of sales and sales management experience in a business to business environment (petrochemical or heavy industry a plus), business development and / or market management experience, experience managing a P&L and leading through managers.
